Botulinum Toxin Type A, commonly known as Botox®, is a prescription medication used as an anti wrinkle treatment to reduce lines and wrinkles. Botox® has been approved by the FDA (food and drug administration) to use for these purposes since 1989. FDA has approved Botox® to be used to treat wrinkles to the crows-feet (around eyes), forehead lines & frown lines (between the eyebrows).
Botox® is injected directly into the targeted muscle, which then blocks the muscle’s nerve signals, which will temporarily relax the muscle. Once the muscle is relaxed, the dynamic wrinkles (caused when we move the muscles in our face), will be reduced or disappear altogether.
This depends on the individual and how fast their metabolism is. The results may not last as long for an active individual completing high intensity exercises multiple times a week, compared to those who do not.
This may occur if you have too much Botox® in the wrong place. We'll discuss your desired goals during your consultation.
Mild swelling or tiny bumps may appear immediately after treatment. These usually settle within 30–60 minutes. There is a small risk of bruising and potential headaches.
You can go back to most normal activities right away, however, we would recommend avoiding the gym/strenuous workouts for at least 24/48 hours after treatment.
Final results appear gradually over the course of two weeks. The cost of your treatment includes any adjustments that may be needed.
We’ll provide full aftercare advice to support best results.
